What is replacing furlough?

Mr Sunak has announced that from 1st November 2020 for 6 months a new ‘Jobs Support Scheme’ will replace the ‘Job Retention Scheme’ which comes to an end on 31st October 2020.

This scheme will top-up salaries in companies that cannot take employees back full-time.  Employees must work at least a third of their normal time to be eligible.  The government and employer will each pay a third of wages. The government says this will mean the employee will get at least 77% of their pay.
